1940s Hermes Leather Cuff Bracelet
Amazing 1940s Hermes leather cuff bracelet made exclusively for Bonwit Teller in 1948 - a piece of fashion history! The design reflects 1940s Art Deco design. It has a large circular piece in the front and closes in the back with a silver-tone hook. The bracelet is for a small wrist - a wrist measuring 6 1/4" or smaller. On the interior the bracelet is stamped, "Bonwit Teller Hermes-Paris Made in France". There are also two stamped letters which date it to 1948. In good condition with wear appropriate for its age.
Bonwitt Teller, the Manhattan high fashion retailer was the only source for Hermes in New York before the Hermes flagship store. The items from Hermes were stamped with the Bonwitt Teller gold stamp and were made in France for the store. Grace Kelly ordered and purchased her Hermes from Bonwitt Teller before her marriage to Prince Rainier.
