Joseff of Hollywood Owl Brooch
This owl brooch was made by Joseff of Hollywood in the late 1940s or early 1950s. It measures 1 ¾” wide x 1 ½” tall and is marked ‘Joseff’ on a plaque located on the back of the brooch. It is in good condition. There is some wear to the back of the brooch - see photos.
Joseff of Hollywood made much of the jewelry that was used in the Hollywood films of the 1930s and 1940s. The company was famous for developing a unique, coppery gold-colored matt metallic finish – known as Russian gold – which minimized the problem of over-reflectivity when filming gold jewelry under powerful studio lights.
