Vintage Schreiner Purple and Green Earrings

Beautiful pair of 1960s clip earrings designed by Schreiner of New York in the 1950s. The earrings are exquisitely fashioned with purple and green glass stones, gold-tone leaves and faceted yellow crystals. They 1 3/8" long x 3/4" wide and are marked 'Schreiner New York' on the backs of the earrings.

Harry Schreiner got his start in the 1940s by designing jewelry for Pauline Trigere, Norman Norell, and Christian Dior. In 1951 he founded his own firm. Schreiner’s signature was to reverse the setting of rhinestones (point side up instead of point side down). The pieces were never mass produced. Everything was made by hand. Schreiner produced some of the finest costume jewelry ever made and the pieces are highly sought after by collectors. Schreiner ceased operations in 1973.
