1950s Blue 'Cumquat' Series Pendant Necklace Napier

This necklace is from Napier's 1955 series called the 'cumquat' series. The necklace consists of three tiered blue cumquat beads which make up a pendant measuring 4" long. The beads are made out of a resin named, 'Moonglow' by Napier because of is luminous quality and each is topped with thick silver-tone curled metal tendrils. The pendant hangs from an 18" long silver-tone chain. The chain is in great condition. The silver-tone tendrils topping the cumquats have slight tarnishing on them - see photos. The necklace is marked, 'Napier' on the back of the clasp.

A photo of this necklace is featured on page 310 of the book, 'The Napier Co.: Defining 20th Century American Costume Jewelry' ( see attached photo #5). The description reads as follows: "During the Fall of 1955, Napier introduced the Cumquat group. This series had enormous success and became a best seller for the company. The primary design element consisted of a cumquat drop topped with a thick curled metal tendril. The necklace design consisted of three, tiered drops, and the bracelet was accentuated by two equidistant drops. The matching earrings came in two styles; the pendant and the stationary earring. The slightly elongated 'Moonglow' bead came in a large array of colors, including green, blue, tangerine, cherry red, brown magenta, lavender, pink and white."
