1970s Napier Goldtone Florida Black Bear Brooch Endangered Species Series
This 1970s Florida black bear brooch is from Napier jewelry’s "Endangered Species" series. This series is a highly collectible line of costume jewelry designed by Eugene Bertolli in 1972. It features endangered animals such as this Florida black bear, a Canada lynx, an elephant, a mountain lion and an otter. The brooch is made out of a textured gold-tone metal and has green glass eyes. It measures 1 3/4” wide x 1 1/8” high and is signed ‘Napier’ with a copyright symbol on the back. The brooch is in very good condition and is part of a series that is featured on page 468 of the book, The Napier Co.: Defining 20th Century American Costume Jewelry by Melinda L. Lewis.
