1950s Napier Chinese Inspired Dangle Earrings
Iconic Napier gold-tone Chinese inspired dangle clip-on earrings. They measure 3 1/4" long x 1" wide and are signed 'Napier' on the inside of the clip. The earrings are featured on page 312 of the book, ‘The Napier Co.: Defining 20th Century American Costume Jewelry’. The earrings were named ‘Chinese Lampsticks’ and were designed in 1953 for Napier by clothing designer Anne Fogarty. Fogarty was a clothing designer who was awarded Mademoiselle Magazine’s 1950 merit award. Her clothing was sold in stores such as Lord & Taylor which also carried Napier jewelry. In 1953 and 1954 Fogarty was asked to design a collection of jewelry for The Napier Co. The Chinese Lampstick earrings were part of the 1953 collection.
