Antique Wedgewood Majolica Bird and Fan Plate 1883
Antique Wedgewood Majolica plate from circa 1878. It features three fans and three bird designs depicted in raised relief on a beautiful turquoise blue background. The plate is an example of Wedgewood's Argenta ware - a pattern characterized by the use of flowers, birds and other motifs on white or pale colored backgrounds. It measures 7 1/4" in diameter. The plate is in good condition with no chips and minimal wear but it has the expected 'crazing' for a plate of this age. The back of the plate is stamped: Wedgwood, the British arrowhead registration mark, BFH and L (indicating the manufacturing year of 1883). Also written in the glaze is: M 2970. So beautiful to add to your Majolica collection, hang on the wall or put in a display cabinet.
