1973 Figural Castlecliff Brooch Designed by Larry VRBA
This brooch of a tribal man in costume was created for Castlecliff in 1973 by the jewelry designer, Larry VRBA. It is made out of a goldtone metal with enamel. It measures 3 1/4" long x 2 1/8" wide and is signed, 'Castlecliff' on the back. The figure appears to be an amalgamation of different tribal motifs. VRBA tells of visiting the Natural History Museum for inspiration and then creating his own tribal jewelry by reassembling the motifs into his pieces.
